Google removing it from the Google Play Store, however, merely requires Android users to side-load the game after downloading it from the Epic Games website. Apple removing Fortnite from the App Store effectively made it impossible for people to download the game on a new device. This argument highlights a core difference between iOS and Android. Google doesn't appear to have a problem with Epic Games implementing such a system on an Android version of Fortnite in general instead it has a problem with that system being used in a game published to the Google Play Store. ZDNet reports that Google has now filed a countersuit against Epic Games alleging that releasing Fortnite's direct payment solution-at least to the version of the game available on the Google Play Store-was a breach of contract.
